Answer:

When a gas transferred from a small container to a large container occupy all the space of large container because gas has no definite shape. From kinetic theory of gases the molecules are regarded as point masses, the space occupied by the gas becomes totally available to each molecule for free movement.

It is possible because gas has no finite shape or any volume. So it is possible for gas to occupy any amount of space by any object.
