both will be irrational as sum and product of a rational and irrational no is irrational

Eg

2 \times  \sqrt{2 \: }  \:  = 2 \sqrt{2}

2 +  \sqrt{2 \: }  = 2 +  \sqrt{2}

for 2 two unlike values cant simply be added
