x and y are complementary angles

So, x + y =90 degrees

A. x = 35 degrees

—> x + y = 90 degrees

So, y = 90 - x

hence, y = 90 - 35

Finally, y = 55 degrees

Similarly you can find for B.

Concept

Complementary angles are the angles which have sum equal to 90.

When the sum of two angles is 90 then they are said to be complementary.

For example

30 and 60

30 + 60 = 90

So, 30 and 60 are complementary angles

Given

x and y are two complementary angles

Find

1) Form the equation

2) Draw the graph

3) Find the value of other angle if any one of the angle os 35 and 40

Solution

As x and y are two complementary angles, so the sum of both of them is equal to 90

The equation is

x + y = 90

1) If any of the angle is 35

Let x be 35

x + y = 90

35 + y = 90

y = 55

2) If any of the angle is 40

Let x be 40

x + y = 90

40 + y = 90

y = 50
