let x be 3,4,6,8 determine weather relation r = (x,f(x) belongs to x , f(x)=x squared plus 1 from x to n is a function or not

A relation becomes a function, when every element in x has an unique pair in y or f(x) and there are no any empty values in f(x)

So, if the x values are limited to the given four values, they have only unique mappings in f(x).
And if it extends to n, still it will behave as a function
And so this relation is a Function

karthic49: Can u say the range of f(x) is it from x to n as u mentioned in your question?
karthic49: if the range of f(x) has other values other than the values obtained from x^2+1 values, then it can't be a function
karthic49: for example of the range i.e., y has values from 3 to n and contains all values between them, then it will not be a function... because by doing x^2+1 , you get only 10,17,65 etc.. for given x
