Let x be a rational and y is a irrational number. is x+y necceserialy an irrational number? give an example to support your answer.

let rational no. =x
irrational no. =y
so x+y=irrational no.
for example v shall take x=4and y=root2 which is =1.4142135
so, x+y=4+1.4142135
x+y=5.4142135
a rational no. should always be a whole no.
since x+y= 5.4142135 which is not a whole no.
this shows it is a irrational no.
