Solution

If x is a rational number and y is an irrational number then the product of x and y can be irrational or rational.

For e.g

 {2} × \sqrt {4}

= 2 × 2

= 4

It is a rational number.

Other e.g

 {3} × \sqrt {8}

=  {3} \sqrt {8}

It is an irrational no.
