Subject: Noise pollution, effects, and prevention.
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to express my concern about the increasing noise pollution especially in our cities and industrialized areas. Noise pollution causes different adverse effects on the physical and psychological well-being of people.
1) Noise pollution:
Noise pollution or sound pollution is harmful to the quality of life of human and animal life. Noise pollution is commonly generated in many industrial facilities and other workplaces. It also comes from the highway, railway, and airplane traffic and outdoor construction activities.
2) The adverse effects of noise pollution:
Noise pollution adversely affects our general well-being. It deteriotes our physiological health. Continuous exposure to noise pollution can result in lack of sleep (insomnia), hypertension (high blood pressure), and anxiety. Noise pollution can lead to partial or even complete loss of hearing. It causes many stress-related illnesses. Noise pollution affects children more than grownups.
3) Measures to Limit Noise Pollution:
Aircraft engines and automobile engines should be fitted with silencing devices.
Factories should be relocated far from residential areas. More trees should be planted along the roads because trees absorb noise.
Kindly look into the matter and enforce relevant rules and take concrete steps to reduce the sound pollution of our city which is listed by the Central Government as a Smart City
Yours sincerely,
