Letter on saving water to the editor
Answers
This problem is very common in metro cities because everyone is living nowadays in floors and flats in buildings which are very high. And everyone is working and nobody has time. So, everyone forgets to switch off their motor. In this way, every morning and evening a lot of water and electricity is wasted.
I want that government make it mandatory for everyone to employ this water saving machine at their places because every drop of water is crucial and so many people are fighting for a bucket of water which so many people living in metro cities waste due to lack of time.

Subject: Water scarcity and preservation of water.
Sir,
Through your esteemed newspaper, I would like to highlight the crisis of the scarcity of water and some ways to prevent wastage and preserve it.
Water is necessary for life. Water is needed for domestic, agricultural and industrial purposes. There is no resource more precious than water. It is also the most misused resource.
Approximately 73% of the earth is water. But fresh and drinkable water is only about 3% and undrinkable salty sea is 70%. So we must conserve this 3% of water. Every drop is precious. With rapid growth of population and sources of water getting contaminated, water conservation is a challenge we cannot afford to ignore. Metro cities are constantly faced with extreme difficulties to supply water to the large population. There are different methods to conserve water and deal with water scarcity.
1 Rain water harvesting is the best and most suitable method.
2. Prevent dripping of water from taps
and showers. Leakage from water pipe lines should be quickly repaired.
3. Adopt water-efficient dishes and clothes washing methods.
4. While brushing your teeth or shaving do not waste water. Turn off the tap when not in use.
5. Carry your own drinking water in non-toxic containers. The plastic used to bottle water become litters that pollute our rivers and lakes.
6. Unchecked industrial waste and hospital waste are dumped in rivers and lakes pollute the water causing diseases and acute water scarcity.
7. Plant more trees because their roots retain rain water which is then available to us as clean underground water.
A few decades ago environmentalists warned that there will be violent riots amoung neighbours just for a bucket of water. This is happening today in many places. Don't waste water. Stop polluting water. Stop deforestation and plant more trees on a war footing.
