Hope this letter finds you in soaring spirits and vibrant
health. I am writing to you to share a very sad news with you. Suresh, one of
my classmates, has become victim of drug addiction. He has been such a bright
student, but now his condition is very critical. First of all he just started
taking drugs out of curiosity. His addiction and dependency compelled him to
consume more quantity. Within a few months the drugs had such a deep influence
his mind, body and soul. He stopped taking interest in academic and
co-curricular activities. He became very weak physically as the drugs had
killed his appetite. The skin under his eyes would always remain puffy and
dark. Most of the time he would remain irritated. Then all of a sudden he
stopped coming to school. He had to be hospitalized. As you must already be aware about the many
negative effects of drugs, my unfortunate classmate soon began to suffer many
health complications. His liver and pancreas were damaged badly. He is lying in
ICU at a local hospital. His family is so depressed! I did not know drugs could
damage a person’s body and mind so much!
Dear friend, it is my personal appeal to you to never ever
give in to the temptation of tasting any drug. I know your moral principals are
very strong. I am also proud of your self-control and abstinence. However,
being your bosom pal, I felt it my bounden duty to edify you. I will be
visiting you next month. Give regards to uncle and aunt.
