I realize truck drivers get tired like everyone else and need rest. I also realize we don’t have very many places in town for them to park their trucks and get a meal or lodging. I just wish they wouldn’t park on West Seventh Street in front of the Tillicum Apartments.

With the new hotel going in and all the workers and their cars and trucks going in and out of the driveway all the time, it is hard for them to see around the big trucks that park there while the driver is staying at the motel or eating in the restaurant.

So far, it hasn’t been a problem because the new hotel parking lot has been empty. But what is going to happen when the hotel opens in June? I am sure it will be a much bigger issue.

Some of us residents at the Tillicum Apartments are pretty much shut-ins and with all those trucks parked in front, we miss a lot of the activity that is going on. Those truckers are soon going to have to find somewhere else to park. There are a few empty spots for them to park further down Seventh Street, but not as close for walking to food or lodging.

There is additional parking along West Sixth Street, but not enough room some nights for all the trucks who need to stay.

Am I the only one to notice the problem? What suggestions are being considered for additional parking for the additional traffic to come this summer?
