Subject: Polluted air and polluted water supply.

Respected Sir,

The air of our cities are polluted. The pollution is extremely high that cases of respiratory diseases are increasing at an alarming rate. The scene of people walking the streets with surgical masks looks grim and scary. It's like living in a time of war and an enemy country has dropped a biochemical weapon on our cities. The air is thick with pollutants and smoky. The visibility is poor because of the dust, smoke and other pollutants. It's not unusual to hear about accidents caused by poor visibility or flights being cancelled.

The other problem is the crisis of shortage of clean water supply. There is insufficient water supply for the public. This shortage of water supply is worsened by the polluted water being supplied.

It is urgently necessary to shift all industries as far away as possible from our cities. Smoke emission from vehicles should be checked. Old vehicles should be phased out as they emit more noise and smoke. Any vehicle emitting exhaust smoke above the normal range should be seized. Burning of garbage in and around cities must be banned.

Next, our cities must think of a proper long-term solution to the shortage of water. Telling the public not to waste water is not enough. The public are doing their part in conserving water. In fact they don't have much water to waste because they are already facing acute scarcity of water. Our cities need water supply brought from a vast source like a big river. Our cities need water recycle plants. Used water must be collected and reused after recycling instead of letting it flow away.

I wish I know what our political leaders who are given portfolios of different tasks and departments are doing. Maybe they are too busy with meetings on how to win the next election. I also wish I know what our top bureaucrats are doing to solve these difficult problems.

I am hoping that they will wake up to the reality of the different problems that the people are facing on a daily basis.

Yours sincerely,
