Letter to local newspaper suggesting the solutions to the problem of drinking water in your area

I find it very disturbing that the state Department of Health turned down a requested grant for South Glens Falls so they can fix the old water pipes that are delivering dirty brown water to our homes. It's really disgusting to turn on your faucet and see brown water coming out. The same water that we drink, cook with, shower with, give our pets and wash our clothes. So the temporary fix is to add a chemical that coats the pipes and allegedly will prevent existing metal from flaking off into the water delivered to our homes. This has been an existing problem for years leading me to wonder why it took so long for South Glens Falls officials to address this problem. So now they will dump more chemicals in our water making us wonder how safe is this water going to be. We need proper action now, not a year from now. I'm sure those sitting on the Department of Health Committee are not drinking dirty water at their homes.
