This is a letter to the editor of a national daily addressing the environmental and social issues:
Respected Sir,
It is with great pain that I am addressing this problem to you. The problem of illegal sand mining is going on rampantly without any remorse. The politicians and the government officials work hand to hand in this.
We the general public have raised this issue in proper forums and petitioned the appropriate but nothing seems to prevent these anti-social elements from looting the sand from river beds. If this continues unabated the flow of water will be disturbed ad it will lead to drop in agricultural output.
I humbly request you to publish stories on this illegal sand mining and create awareness on the same.
Thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Madan M

Subject: Felling of trees in our city
Dear Sir:
I am writing to your esteemed self to express my deep concern over the problem of indiscriminate felling trees of in our city. I am deeply anguished and concerned at this recklessness. There are already just a few trees left in residential colonies. How should we make the people and the Government to understand that trees are the oxygen generators for us!? We can’t survive without them.
Trees can’t be allowed to be felled in the name of new constructions! The Government should take very strict actions against those who fell trees in cities. The Government should also plant trees all across the city .Through the medium of your esteemed daily I appeal to people and the Government to preserve the few trees that are left among human colonies. It must be done at any cost. Kindly publish my letter in your reputed daily.
Yours truly,

Subject: The menace of illicit liquor
I am writing this letter to express deep concern over the problem of illicit liquor trafficking in the city after the state Government’s ban on it. It appears as if trafficking alcohol illegally has become the chief purpose of living of people. The prices of liquor after the ban have skyrocketed; yet the alcoholics have been managing to drink daily.
The shocking thing is some unscrupulous police personnel and officials are condoning trafficking of alcohol from the neighboring states. Through the medium of your newspaper, I appeal to the Government officials and the concerned Ministry to look into the matter and take strict action against the culprits. I hope your good-self will give my views enough space in your reputed daily. Thanking you.
Yours truly,
Amit Chauhan
