Subject: Flying Kites Killing Birds
Dear Sir:
I write to your esteemed self to express my deep concern over the menace of flying kites killing innocent birds. Kite flying is quite popular all across India, especially north India during Makar Skranti, Lohri, and Republic Day celebrations. The kite flying, like all other things, has evolved also. People prefer flying kites with Chinese plastic metal coated string, which is quite strong. It does not easily cut or break.
However, it is quite dangerous to birds. They often get strangled in the tangles of threads hanging from poles, wires, etc. The Government has banned its use, but despite that people are using it flagrantly and rampantly. Through the medium of your reputed daily I wish to bring this fact to the notice of the concerned authorities. I appeal to people and the authorities to take measures against this alarming menace. I hope you will give my views enough space in your daily. Thanking you.
Yours truly,
Amrit Raj
