Subject - Ensuring safety against street crimes.
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily I crave to spread awareness regarding the street crime. Street crime is a loose term for criminal offences taking place at public places. Nowadays street crimes are quite common in city. Usually it occurs in busy areas, which include pick pocketing, mobile snatching, wallet snatching, purse snatching, etc.
Street crimes affect our neighborhood and society. These crimes are contributing to the destruction of society, city and younger generation.
Nowadays, every individual has its own story of mobile, wallet, chain snatching. It seems police is least considerate about such incidents as it has taken no action against these thieves due to which the menace is increasing with every possible day, causing hardship for citizens. Few days back there was a news that a lady on scooty got seriously injured when her chain was snatched by some unknown men. She got head injury and her situation was critical. Such crimes are on rise these days.
The major causes behind these crimes is unemployment, illiteracy and poverty etc. Moreover, illegal settlements in city outskirts is also a reason of increase in street crimes. There is dire need that Police should take serious steps to control these street crimes. Effective steps must be taken to solve the problem of unemployment besides providing education to poor. Police authorities need to be remain more alert for safeguarding citizen’s lives.
JMC had once announced that CCTV cameras would be installed in every Mohalla but I think it failed to implement it on ground level. Early action is required in this as it would help a lot to curb the menace of street crime.
