Subject: Never ending problem of gender discrimination

Sir

I am writing this letter to your good self to express my deep anguish over the never ending problem of gender discrimination in our country.

Though there are so many campaigns to promote gender equality in the country,

but the bitter truth is females are still being discriminated against.

Since I am a student, I feel this discrimination on regular

basis. First of all, in all the classes, I find the number of girls far less

than boys. Secondly, girls are subjected to unnecessary harassment in the name

of teasing. Still our parents remind us daily to be cautious as we happen to be

girls.

The crimes against girls continue to go on unceasingly! Who says

gender-discrimination has stopped. I appeal to the people and the Government to

do something in earnest to provide gender equality, safety, security, respect,

etc. to women and girls.

Yours truly,

XYZ

Answer:

Dear Editor,

As a Ni-Vanuatu Student currently studying at the University of the South Pacific, Emalus Campus, i strongly urge the Department of Justice to promote gender equality in our nation.

Firstly, i believe that we human beings are all equal in rights and dignity regardless of gender, race, social class, language, traditional and religious beliefs, and political opinions.

I believe also that in the past, custom and culture was dominant, as a result women were considered inferior to men.

Nowadays patriarchy is still practiced but I think that women have the right and freedom to do whatever they want without discrimination.

They have the right to life, liberty, security, education, health and engage in any activities in the public and in the private sphere.

They do have equal right as men do to participate in politics and be elected into parliament and become leaders.

Promoting gender equality would result in cultural, social, political, and economic changes within the nation.

Women are keen and critical thinkers that would help in enhancing the environment and boost the nation to a new level.

And also, they would aid in supporting feminism and gender equality in the nation.

I urge the government and the Minister of Justice to enact regulations and bill of rights with respect to gender inequality, and also recommend that women should take a step forward to make their voice heard.

Sincerely,

Hendry Norwo,

Student
