Letter writing to Childhood friend

Dear Childhood Best Friend,
It seems like just yesterday I was lugging my Barbies to your house and we would spend hours upstairs creating our perfect lives through them. If we weren't doing that, then we were doing something else crazy. We were definitely advanced in our years. I remember when our interest in boys began and we made nicknames for our crushes. I would help you out and you would help me in return.
Life was so easy and simple back then. So far, that life I had dreamed up with my Barbies isn't what I had planned, but not in a bad way. Life is great and a little bit tough, but there is one thing missing, and that's you.
As a child, I never imagined our friendship ending or being the way it is now. Your home was my second home and your family was always there for me. Our friendship didn't end on a bad note, but we just grew distant. Our interests changed, we met different friends at school and life got busy.
The time we once had together became few and far between. We went from best friends to distant friends and now strangers. I find myself thinking about you from time to time. I wonder how college is going. I wonder what your family is up to and I wonder if life is all you expected it to be. I hope it is all you ever could have dreamed of.
Although we do not talk anymore I want to thank you. I want to thank you for the friendship we had and for the memories you gave me. I want to thank you for placing a piece into the puzzle that is my life. If you hadn't been a part of it, my life would be so extremely different. As I've gotten older I have realized that people come and go. Some you easily forget about, but I don't think your childhood best friend can be forgotten.
I wish you the best in life and who knows, maybe we will reconnect in the future. Regardless, I'll send you an invitation to my wedding one day, and if you chose to come, we can catch up then. No matter what, I hope you always know the impact you had on my life and how you shaped me into the person that I am today.
So long and best of luck with wherever life takes you!
Your Childhood Friend,
Sarah
