Letter to the editor is written to inform the public or government something by publishing in newspaper, use professional jargon, be formal, polite and don't forget to address the problem and its solutions while mentioning the role of editor as well. Below is a formal letter to the editor for your use.

Subject: Concern Over Rash Driving And Road Accidents

Sir

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards one of the most important issues facing our Independent India, the increasing cases of rash driving and road accidents.

As someone rightly said, “Family is the most important thing in the world”, and for families to prevail, all members of the family should be safe and sound. Unfortunately, most of our youth and some stubborn adults do not follow traffic rules, leading to road accidents which might cause very serious injuries and sometimes, death. Rash driving has become a very common sight on streets, but what most people don’t realize is that the ones driving might not even be old enough to earn a driving license. Today’s youth doesn’t understand the importance of rues and does not follow them. It then, becomes a very important duty of the parents to educate their children. But most of the times, youth carry out such risky activities due to negative peer influence. Youth is not to blame for these road accidents completely. Many people ignore traffic rules despite being well-educated about them.

No one bears to notice and complain about these risky activities and clearly, the authorities have failed to notice them too.

I would like to suggest that the government take strict action against rule breakers and impose heavy fines for the people who violate the rules. I would also like to propose that Government monitor all the people who drive on roads and see whether or not they are eligible for driving and if they have a driving license or not. Let’s take action against this disturbing issue and contribute to making our India's future a safe and secure one.

Thank you

Yours truly

Saria
