1. The numerator of a fraction is 4 less than the denominator. If the numerator is decreason
by 2 and denominator is increased by 1, then the denominator is eight times the
numerator. Find the fraction.​

Answer:

Let denominator be x

So numerator = x-4

Fraction = x-4/x

According to question

If numerator = x-4-2 = x-6

And denominator = x+1

Then

x+1 = 8(x-6)

x+1= 8x-48

x-8x = -48-1

-7x = -49

x = -49/-7

x = 7

x-4 = 7-4 = 3

Therefore

Fraction = 3/7
