The base AB of two equilateral triangles ABC and ABC 'with side 2a lies along the X-
axis such that the mid-point of AB is at the origin as shown in Fig.
6.4. Find the coordinates of the vertices C and C'of the triangles.​

however as per given description, there are only two possibilities.

1.) C and C' are same points

2) C and C' are on opposite side of AB

There will be only a difference of -ve sign in the y coordinate of C.

Now Length of perpendicular i.e. OC

= √(2a)^2 - a^2

= √ 4a^2 - a^2

= √ 3a^2

= √3 a

hence coordinate of C = (0, √3a)

coordinate of C' = (0, -√3a)
