pH of acidic solution increases on dilution.
pH = -log[H+]
On dilution of acid, the H+ concentration decreases. Hence pH of the acidic solution increases.
This can also be understood from the fact, that an acid has pH lower than 7 and water has pH = 7. If we add water in acidic solution it definitely going increase the pH of the solution. And for base the pH will decrease on dilution. As bases have pH greater than 7.
