- Liberals did not favor the universal adult franchise which gave voting rights to every person above the age of 18.
- They granted voting rights only to powerful men who owned land. Only these men could cast their votes and have their voices raised in the parliament. The poor were neglected.
- Women were not given any voting rights under the liberals.
