Lichen is the symbiotic association of algae nd fungi. Upper part is made of algae filament while lower part is made up of fungal hyphae. Fungal hyphae provide water and minerals to algae while algae prepare the food material. They grow on dark place, tree and rock.

Hey user , here's your answer ...
A lichen is a composite organism that emerges from algae or cyanobacteria living among the filaments (hyphae) of two fungi in a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship.
The fungi benefit from the carbohydrates produced by the algae or cyanobacteria via photosynthesis.
Algae is the autotroph so it prepares food in lichens and being a heterotrophic , fungi feeds on that food .
Hope it will be helpful :)
