LiCl is more soluble in pyridine than in H2O. Why? Explain

Answer:

High covalent characteristic of LiCl is the reason behind its higher solubilty in organic sovent i.e. pyridine than in water. Covalent character of LiCl can be explained by virtue of Fajans rule where cation(Li+) is much smaller in size and anion (cl-) is larger in size.
