• If I talk honestly, I can't understand what you really want to say. There are two possibilities :-

> You want the correct sentence.

> You want a deeper explanation.

• Talking about the first possibility, the sentence is incorrect. It should be like :-

> "Life becomes tougher when you talk with someone smarter than you."

• Second one's here :-

• We can't say that it becomes 'tougher'. Actually when you talk usually with someone smarter than you, you are most probably to learn way of life (like the person may provide you various information and all) that in fact makes your life easier than tough. For example :- Think of your teacher. You may have a daily chat with him/her right? And he/she may help you with your studies too. Now if you're talking with him/her then it'll benefit you in your studies which in fact will make your life easy and happy.

• And yes! If the person with you is way smarter and a bit proud of his/her knowledge, he/she may discourage you and you might suffer from difficulties.
