Answer:
Friends play quite an important part in every individual’s life. Especially, at younger age, friends are the best companions. The world appears to be incomplete without them and much of our time is spent in their company.
However, it is not true that life’s best lessons are learnt from friends. Life’s best lessons are learnt from failures, losses, defeats, disillusionment, and heartbreaks. And as one becomes matures, one also learns the other aspects of friends also. Quite often, the loss and pain is given by the same friends who used to be the apple of our eyes.
In my own life, I also learnt a painful lesson from a friend who was quite close to me. After attaining adulthood, once my friend offered me I could be a partner in some venture and asked me to do some investment. I did not have enough money, so I took a loan from bank. I paid the money I had been asked. After two or three days I realized, I did not want to continue in the venture; and asked my friend if I could have my money back. The friend never paid me the money and I never pursued that venture again. Even a close friend could do such a mean thing! I lost all trust in friendship. I learnt that friendship is a waste of time. This is the lesson I learnt from my friend.
Later on I focused my energies on the things that mattered to me. I improved my skills, and made books, meditation, my career, my family members my friend, and I never had to undergo any unpleasant experiences.
In conclusion, it can be said in rare cases, we may learn best lessons from our friends; but friendship is a hard thing to maintain but the fruit bore by true friendship is the sweetest.
