Life Cycle. Cysts and trophozoites are passed in feces . Cysts are typically found in formed stool, whereastrophozoites are typically found in diarrheal stool. Infection by Entamoeba histolytica occurs by ingestion of mature cysts in fecally contaminated food, water, or hands.
