These lines are from poem, Keeping Quiet, by Pablo Neurda. This poem is about the importance of keeping quiet in our life. The poet feels all our problems exist because of the mad rush and din in our life. The poet, in the above mentioned lines clarifies his perception of his point of view. He says that his vision about silence should not be confused with inactivity, lethargy and idleness. He wants active life; but it must be quiet. He does not want the quietness of death at all.

keeping quiet the poet doesn’t want us to be like death, we are very much alive on that moment and earth can prove we are not dead but alive
