Starting a Life in a Boarding School Life at a boarding school offers many positive experiences. Leaving for boarding school in grade 7 was one of the hardest moments of my life. It was terrifying leaving home, and everything that provided me with the comfort and warmth, and to go somewhere where I knew no one. I was going to start from scratch with no friends and nobody I knew. It was going to be a challenge for me, and I realized quickly that I had mixed feelings for going away to school. I tried to be positive about the situation, but as my first day of boarding school was approaching, I began to have less and less confidence at the thought of leaving my hometown and losing the identity that I already had. On 3rd March 2007,I started my journey to The Lawrence School, Sanawar my boarding school, which was located near Shimla on 3rd March 2007.
The school is located in the foothills of Shivalik Himalayas, which is mountain range in northern India.
I arrived at my boarding school at 10 am, as it was scheduled in the joining letter to complete all the remaining formalities .It was breezy, cold and the roads were slippery. It was a huge ancient boarding school, which was founded in 1857 by a British governor general, when they ruled India back in the time .I still remember the March morning I arrived, it was a Saturday.
