A person is said to have lived a great life if the individual is able to touch people's lives and make a positive difference. For instance, all great leaders have positively influenced the masses, be it King, Nelson Mandela or Rani Laxmi Bai. The common man cannot compete with such personalities, but can aspire to lead a great life in simple ways like conducting free classes for underprivileged children or volunteering in an old age home. On the contrary, someone who lives long, but does not contribute positively to society, has failed somewhere as an individual. Since humans are social animals, their connection with society needs to be strong. This strengthening does not happen through leading a long life, but through good deeds that positively impact and inspire others. People are remembered for the quality of life they lead, not for the years they spent on earth.
