Razia became the Sultan in 1236 and was dethroned after 3 years,6 months and 6 days of rule in 1240. In my view it wasn't a case of gender distinction. She got dethroned because of a large competition from other rulers. She disbanded and tried to supress 'the corps of forty" and faced a lots of rebellion from them. She fell prey to a conspiracy and was imprisoned by Malik Altunia. She later married him to escape death. After sometime both of them headed towards Delhi to dethrone her brother Muizuddin behram shah but got captured by robbers on the way and was killed there.
