The elder brothers and sisters of poet were envy(jealous)of poet because he used to get more love and attention from his mother as he was very hardworking.

I don't think that envy(jealousy) is good because it creates hatred and wrong attitide but sometimes it can act in a positive manner as it can encourage the jealous person to work more hard.So,I think that being envy can be an advantage but not most of the times.
