Hey there !

Solution:

Formula to be used:

  • Refractive Index = Speed of Light in vacuum / Speed of light in medium

Given Information:

  • Refractive Index = 1.5
  • Speed of light in vacuum = 3 × 10⁸ m/s

To Find:

  • Speed of light in medium

Illustration:

Substituting the given information in formula we get,

1.5 = 3 × 10⁸ / Speed in medium

=> Speed in medium = 3 × 10⁸ / 1.5

=> Speed in medium = 2 × 10⁸ m/s

Hence the speed of light in medium is 2 × 10⁸ m/s.

Hope my answer helped !
