Given :

μg=1.5=3/1

μw=1.33= 4/3

For two angle of incidences =

case 1: when light passes straight through normal :

angle of i =0⁰

angle of r= 0⁰

angle of deviation =0⁰

case 2:

when light is incident at critical angle

sin c/ sin r= μa/μg

sin c=8/9

c= sin⁻¹(8/9)= 62.73⁰

angle of deviation = 90⁰-c= 90- sin⁻¹(8/9)

=cos⁻¹(8/9)=37.27⁰

we conclude that if angle of incidence is increased beyond Critical angle , total internal reflection occurs and deviation decreases .

so range of deviation is o⁰ to cos⁻¹(8/9)

Here, if the angle of incidence is increased beyond critical angle, total internal reflection occurs and deviation decreases. So, the range of deviation is 0 to cos–1(8/9).
