Angle of incidence (<i) = 45°

Angle of refraction (<r) = 30°

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Refractive index of second medium with respect to first medium = n21 = ?

According to Snell's law of refraction: when light travels from medium 1 to medium 2,

n21 = sin i/sin r = sin 45°/sin 30°

= 1/√2/1/2 = 2/√2 = 1.414

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆

Refractive index of first medium with respect to second medium = n12 = ?

Similarly, n12 = sin r/sin i = sin 30°/sin 45°

= 1/2/1/√2 = √2/2 = 0.707
