Answer:

We know that sin i/ sin r gives us the Refractive Index of Medium 2 in W.R.T Medium 1

Therefore,

RI-2-wrt-1 = sin i/sin r

= sin 30 / sin 45 (as given)

= (1 / 2) / (1/ \sqrt{2} )

= 1 / 2 * \sqrt{2}

= 1 / \sqrt{2}

That is your RI of Medium 2 WRT Medium 1

Now for the 2nd Part,

We know the Principle of Reversibility of Light, by which we can just invert our answer in the previous one!

Therefore,

RI-1-wrt-2 = \sqrt{2}

Hope this Helps

By the way, if you Don't know the Principle of Reversibility of Light, then here is the Definition of it:

According to principle of reversibility of light, if the path of the light is reversed after suffering a number of reflections and refractions, then it retraces its path. This means that if a light ray travels from medium 1 to medium 2 and has angle of incidence and angle of refraction as i and r respectively, then if the light is incident from medium 2 at an angle r, then the angle of refraction in medium 1 will be i.
