1) Let the father age be represented by x years and son's be by y years.

So , the correct linear equation in two variables for the situation can be :

x-10 = 12(y-10)

2) Let the cost of mathematics book be x Rs and English be y Rs .

The correct linear equation in two variables for the situation can be:

60x + 40x = 2220

You can take any other variable of your choice and can change the situation by taking the things on the other side changing the signs of the variable . It's free upto you .

1) Let father's age = x

and son's age=y

(x - 10) = 12(y - 10) \\ x - 10 = 12y - 120 \\ x + 110 = 12y \\ x - 12y = - 110

2) Let the cost of 1 maths book = x

and cost of 1 English book = y

60x + 40y = 2220 \\ 20(3x + 2y) = 2220 \\ 3x + 2y = \frac{2220}{20} \\ 3x + 2y = 111
