Rationalize Numerator and factorise denominator, and cut x-a , and get answer

Sarbesh: i have taken x-b=k½ & a-b= y½ , x-a= k½ - y½ so, x²-a² = k-y ....by applying x^n - a^n ÷ x-a = n.a^n-1 i get ½(✓a-b)½ ...is this process wrong?
