lime water turns milky when carbon dioxide is passed through it because of the formation of calcium carbonate.
Ca(OH)2 + CO2 gives CaCO3 +H2O as
base + non metallic oxide gives salt +water
if excess carbon dioxide is passed through lime water then the milkiness disappears because of formation of calcium hydrogen carbonate
CaCO3 + H2O + CO2 gives Ca(HCO3)2
PLEASE MARK IT AS BRAINLIEST
