Limitations of Newland's law of octaves :-

→ It was found that Law of octaves was applicable only upto calcium.

→ After calcium every eight element did not possess properties similar to that of first.

→ Newlands assumed that only 56 elements existed in nature and no more elements would be discovered in future. But later several new elements were discovered.

→ To fit the elements into his table, Newlands adjusted two elements in the same slot but also put some unlike elements under the same note.

Limitations of Newland's law of octaves were

1) It can apply to lighter elements but can't be applied to heavier elements lacking behind calcium

2) He puts two elements Cobalt and Nickel with same group which consists Chlorine, Fluorine , Bromine which were of different properties than these.

3) Iron which was related to Cobalt and Nickel were adjusted far away from them.
