Given: Lin runs 5 laps around the track in 6 minutes.

To find:

a. How many minutes per lap is that?

b. How many laps per minute is that?

c. If Lin runs 21 laps at the same rate, how long does it take her?

Solution:

Part (a.)

Find how much time does Lin has to complete 1 lap.

Lin runs 5 laps around the track in 6 minutes.

Therefore,

TIme taken to cover one lap=\frac{6}{5} mintues.

                                              =1.2 minutes

Hence, it is 1.2 minutes per lap.

Part (b.)

Find the speed of LIn in Laps per minute.

\[\begin{array}{l}Speed = \frac{{dis\tan ce}}{{time}}\\ \Rightarrow Speed = \frac{5}{6}\\ \Rightarrow Speed = 0.83\end{array}\]laps per minute

Therefore, the speed is 0.83 laps per minute.

Part (c.)

Know that, Speed=0.83 laps per minute.

Find the time taken to run 21 laps.

\[ = \frac{{21}}{{0.83}}\]

\[ = 25.30\min utes\]

Hence, Lin took 25.30 minutes to run 21 laps.
