Given:

Linda made 24 jelly-bread sandwiches with a 16-ounce jar of jelly

Joanne made 30 jelly-bread sandwiches with a 20-ounce jar of jelly

To find:

Who used more ounces of jelly per sandwich?

Solution:

For Linda-

Ounce jars of jelly for 24 sandwiches= 16

So, ounce jars of jelly for 1 sandwich = 16/24 or 2/3

For Joanne-

Ounce jars of jelly for 30 sandwiches= 20

So, ounce jars of jelly for 1 sandwich = 20/30 or 2/3

Both used same ounces of jelly, i.e. 2/3 per sandwich.
