Inclinometers are used to measure displacements in ground. They are also used in structures that lie below ground level (e.g. retaining walls).

The line of sight is located at the angle set on the inclinometer.

Factors which influence the use of inclinometers

  • Gravity
  • Temperature (drift), zero offset, linearity, vibration, etc.
  • A visible line of sight between the user and the measured point is required.
  • A well defined object is needed to get the maximum precision.
  • The angle measurement precision and accuracy

Hope it helps!
