Given : line represented by y=6 is parallel to the y axis.

To Find :   whether the statement is true or not

Solution:

Line parallel to x axis has 0 slope.

Line parallels to y axis has slope 1/0

y=6

Can be re written as

y =  0.x + 6

y = mx + c has slope m

so m = 0

Hence slope is 0

so line is parallel to x axis

Hence y = 6 is  parallel to x axis.

so statement line represented by y=6 is parallel to the y axis is NOT TRUE
