Given : If you subtract 1/2 from a Number and multiply the result by 1/2 you get 1/8

To Find : Number

Solution:

Let say Number = N

subtract 1/2 from a Number = N - 1/2

multiply the result by 1/2  = (1/2) (N - 1/2)

you get 1/8

=>  (1/2) (N - 1/2) = 1/8

=> N - 1/2 = 1/4

=> N = 1/4 + 1/2

=> N = (1 + 2)/4

=> N = 3/4

Number is 3/4
