Let one number be x.

Then the other number will be 4 less than 3 times another = 3x - 4.

Given that if the sum is increased by 5, the result is 25.

x + (3x - 4) + 5 = 25

x + 3x - 4 + 5 = 25

x + 3x + 1 = 25

4x + 1 = 25

4x = 25 - 1

4x = 24

x = 24/4

x = 6.

If one number is 6, then the other number = 3x - 4

                                                                        = 3(6) - 4

                                                                        = 18 - 4

                                                                        = 14.

Therefore the numbers are 6 and 14.

verification:

x + (3x - 4) + 5 = 25

6 + (3(6) - 4) + 5 = 25

6 + 18 - 4 + 5 = 25

6 + 14 + 5 = 25

25 = 25.

Hope this helps!
