Answer:

x= no of boys

y= no of girls

x = y+ 8

x/y = 7:5

y + 8/ y = 7:5

y = 20

x= 28

Total strength = 48

Answer:

48

Step-by-step explanation: if we have a ratio , it will have a common factor to which it would be reduced to . let us consider that common factor as 'x'.

boys is 8 more than girls . Now form the equation : 7x = 5x +8 . after subtracting 5x from both sides (i.e ) 7x - 5x = 5x - 5x + 8 , we would get the equation 2x =8 , after solving that we would get x = 4 . Now x is the common factor that we didn't know in the beginning . Number of Boys = 7 times x = 7 * 4 = 28. Number of Girls = 5 times x = 5 * 4 = 20 . so the total would be equal to 28 + 20 = 48 .

Thank you
