x = 23°

Note :

• Two adjacent angles are said to be forming a linear pair if their sum is 180° .

Solution :

Here ,

The given linear pair of angles is ;

(2x + 16°)

(5x + 3°)

Also ,

We know that , the sum of linear pair of angles is 180° .

Thus ,

=> (2x + 16°) + (5x + 3°) = 180°

=> 7x + 19° = 180°

=> 7x = 180° - 19°

=> 7x = 161°

=> x = 161°/7

=> x = 23°

Hence , x = 23°
