The Culture of the people of Punjab is supposed to be one of the oldest and richest cultures of the world which has a very great history and complexity. The Culture of the Punjabi’s shows its diversity and rich cultural heritage which includes different fields like philosophy, poetry, spirituality, education, artistry, warfare, architecture, traditional values and history.

The spirit of mutual understanding amidst a shared history has enabled a special unity in diversity. The Sikh art and Culture is synonymous with that of the Punjab Region. The Punjab itself has been called “India’s Melting Pot”; due to the confluence of invading cultures.

The States of Andhra Pradesh and Punjab share many similarities and both the States lean a lot from each other by mutual interaction centred on knowing about each other’s culture, history and tradition.

Like several folk dances in Andhra Pradesh, there are a good number of folk dances in Punjab, each with their own colorful history and unique style. The Bhangra is a folk dance and music that originated from Punjab. Originally Bhangra was performed by the farmers of the region to welcome the harvest season. The dance has witnessed incredible evolution and has been popularized even in the West.

The culture of Andhra Pradesh is an integral part Gadwal, Venkatagiri, Pedana,Bandarulanka, Uppada and Mangalairi, the exclusive metal ware, brass, stone and wood carving from Budithi in Srikaklulam District and Veenas from Bobbili and colourful toys from Etikoppaka and Kondapalli highlight the immense talent of the Andhra craftsmen. I would like to present before you the culture of Andhra along with the culture of Punjab , the similarity between the celebrations of the festivals of both the States. In Andhra Pradesh, we people celebrate Bhogi Festival. In Bhogi Festival early morning, we people gather the wood and put a wood fire in the open place and this is worshipped. Where as in North India particularly in Punjab, it is called Lohri Festival.

In the evening time, the people of the area gathered together and they put a very big bon-fire and the newly wedded couples along with the newly-born daughters and sons of those they take a pre Karma around the fire God as well as they distribute a variety of sweets on this particular day. It is celebrated in the evening hours in Punjab, Where it is celebrated in the early morning hours in Andhra Pradesh.

Yes, there are so many similarities between Andhra Pradesh and Punjab States and they both celebrate several festivals together.
