liquid generally have low density as compared to solids . But you must have observed that ice floats on water. Find out why?​

solid generally have higher density but due to it's specific structure it has higher intermolecular force

Ice floats because it is about 9% less denser than liquid water. Also , ice takes 9% more space than water , so a liter of ice weighs less than a liter water .

Here the heavier water displaces Lighter ice.

This is the reason why ice floats on water.
